What is your art practice about?
I am interested in human behaviour and how we see. I make ink paintings, silkscreen printings and sculpture.
Why do you make paintings?
When I am painting, I feel relief. This is what makes painting so interesting. I do not think about anything else, I just paint. I am looking to achieve a state when painting is about making art, not about any commercial ideas.
Rabbit-Man?
What is a regular work-day like?
I generally work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Besides creating works, I squeeze in a lot of emails and meetings and a bit of socialising too. Lately I’m traveling a lot for my project in NYC, that adds another tons of meetings, planning and production work. That’s an exhaustive process which takes a lot of my time out of the studio and I’m often out on location shooting for the video installations, bartering for support, hustling for PR, sourcing materials and directing our tiny band of volunteers.
What are your paintings about?
I make paintings about self identity, women and beauty culture. I also work as an illustrator and often make comics about fashion history.
How did you set foot in the art world?
I put my artworks on my blog and one day I got an invitation from a curator to participate in a local group exhibition. At time I didn’t think too much about it, I just thought it would be fun to join and I immediately fell in love with the experience and that’s when I decided to become a full time artist.
