How did you set foot in the art world?

I put my artworks on my blog and one day I got an invitation from a curator to participate in a local group exhibition.  At time I didn’t think too much about it, I just thought it would be fun to join and I immediately fell in love with the experience and that’s when I decided to become a full time artist.

Is there something you always draw?

I always draw things related to the two characters – Fireyman and Iceman I created.  They have extremely different personalities.  I like contradictions, when things are sometimes confusing and sometimes crystal-clear.  It took me some years to develop the body of works on these two characters, I am planning to come back to them again soon.

What is your artistic practice about?

The projects that I have been working are about the tension between social expectations and individual identities.  Human beings are social animals, inevitably we are under pressure to conform to social norms; at the same time, we have our own identities and values.  This is where the tension comes in.

I witnessed people around me became frustrated and depressed by social myths, like the standard of beauty.  I have made these social issues the focus of my art.  I have no intention to judge but I want to reveal the truth about social norms.  The audience is the one to judge and to think about their own identities and positions in the contemporary world.
